Bio
Μόραλης Γιάννης

Born in Arta in 1916. He settled permanently in Athens in 1927. He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 1936. He then moved to Rome and Paris on a scholarship from the Academy of Athens. In Paris, he studied painting and the art of fresco at the École Nationale des Beaux Arts, as well as mosaic at the École des Arts et Métiers.

In 1947, he was elected Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where he remained until 1983. In 1958, he represented Greece at the Venice Biennial together with the artists Antonis Sochos and Yiannis Tsarouchis. A year later, in 1959, he planned the linear composition of the Northwest and Southeast sides of the hotel HILTON in Athens.

He has illustrated books by Odysseas Elytis, Giorgos Seferis, etc., created murals and etchings in a variety of media, designed sets and costumes for the National Theatre of Greece, the Karolos Koun Art Theatre and the Greek Chorodrama.

His paintings belong in public and private collections in Greece and abroad.
